If your inner thighs could use some attention, here are nine yoga poses that'll fire up this area. Be prepared - you'll instantly feel the burn that lets you know your thighs are getting stronger and more toned.
I can't function before my first cup of coffee. I've been sipping the dark stuff every day since I was 15 years old and picked up a more serious habit during my college years. While I've backed off those twice-a-day doppios (I know, I can't believe it either), I still enjoy a cup of strong black coffee every morning. For years, I toyed with the idea of giving up caffeine for good, but lucky for me, there's a ton of research out there supporting my java habit.
It eases muscle pain: Drinking coffee before a workout has been proven to prevent post-workout soreness. One University of Georgia study found that moderate doses of caffeine can reduce the pain by nearly 50 percent - and anyone who has dealt with DOMS knows that it is no laughing matter.
It improves your memory: There's promising research that the caffeine in coffee has a positive effect on memory and thought processes, specifically when it comes to Alzheimer's disease. Mice with the rodent equivalent of Alzheimer's disease who consumed caffeine-spiked drinking water experienced a reduction in the levels of a protein in the brain that is a key aspect of the disease.
It keeps you regular: Coffee may help you "go" for a few reasons. Drinking warm liquids gets things moving, and just the fact that it's a liquid helps as well, since staying hydrated is one way to prevent constipation. And coffee itself is a powerful stimulant that encourages muscle contractions in the digestive tract.
It fights against disease: The antioxidants in coffee have been shown to decrease the risk of diabetes, heart disease, certain cancers, gallstones, and Parkinson's. These risks might not seem pressing right now, but your future self will thank you for doing whatever you can to prevent these health issues from happening.
It increases endurance: Running a race soon? You might consider sipping on a cup of joe before heading to the starting line. Studies have found that drinking a cup of coffee before can help increase your endurance.
With all that said, I hate to admit it, but coffee isn't a miracle beverage. Drinking too much can contribute to high blood pressure, sleep issues, headaches, and digestive problems. Just be sure to stick to 300 milligrams or less of caffeinated beverages a day to keep your java habit in check and your body in tip-top shape.
JustFab, the parent company that owns both Kate Hudson's Fabletics and Kim Kardashian's ShoeDazzle, is making headlines for its questionable business practices and poor customer service. An investigative piece by BuzzFeed reports that the $1 billion company not only made unauthorized credit card charges to its customers but also has an ambiguous cancellation policy.
For those not familiar with JustFab, the online shoe and clothing retailer works by offering a service where members can purchase special items for $39.95 every month. The trick, however, is when you decide not to buy anything for that month, you have to remember to hit "skip" on your account, otherwise your credit card will still be billed. And if you decide to cancel your subscription, well, that is a whole other story.
As a past member of JustFab, I once forgot to hit "skip month" and ended up with a charge. When I called to end my subscription, it took me about 30 minutes just to go through the cancellation process. Many users, who have experienced a similar situation, have complained not only about JustFab but also about Fabletics, which sells activewear and is co-owned by Kate Hudson. Users like Beth Daboll even took to Twitter to say:
@Fabletics is a joke canceled months ago they asked for alternate e-mail and then continued to bill throughout that e-mail!!!!! #scam
The BuzzFeed investigation found that between August 2012 and the middle of last month, JustFab had more than 1,400 Better Business Bureau complaints and there are thousands more across social media.
A JustFab spokesperson responded to these allegations and said, "As a fashion company, our flexible-subscription business model makes it possible to pass along the substantial savings we realize to our customers."
Including more fruits and veggies in your daily diet is known to help with weight loss, but a new study proves that choosing specific types of produce can help you drop pounds faster.
The study followed 117,918 men and women in their 30s and 40s from 1986 to 2010 (24 years), checking in on the individuals every four years. They found that after four years of adding an extra serving of fruit or veggie to their day, it led to less weight gained - 0.25 pounds less for vegetables, and 0.53 pounds for fruit.
The fruits and veggies that had the greatest impact were berries, citrus fruits, tofu or soy, apples, pears, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, and leafy greens. On the other hand, eating more starchy vegetables, including corn, peas, and potatoes, was associated with weight gain.
Other factors in this study could have played into weight changes including physical activity and smoking, but the bottom line is eating more fruits and veggies that are high in fiber and low on the glycemic index are the way to go if you're trying to lose a few.
When you're hungry, busy, and surrounded by fast-food options, choosing a wrap over a burger can seem like the healthier option. But according to a UK government group, some wraps may have far more calories, sodium, and fat than that Big Mac.
The group, called Safefood, surveyed sandwich shops, cafes, and delis around the UK and Ireland and found that, of the 240 sandwiches they analyzed, the average calorie counts of the wraps ranged between 465 for chicken and salad wraps and 564 for chicken and caesar salad wraps, along with a substantial amount of the daily recommended limit for fat. Many wraps, they found, were much larger than a regular serving size, and some clocked in at almost 1,000 calories and had over 100 percent of the recommended daily amount of sodium. By contrast, a Big Mac contains 540 calories and 1110 milligrams of sodium (about 43 percent of RDI).
This survey is a good reminder that not all healthy-seeming foods are as good for you as you may think. While making a conscious decision to opt for healthy options during lunch is a good step toward weight loss, being extra vigilant about what that means is the key to seeing actual results on the scale. When choosing ready-made wraps, be aware of the size (if it looks large, save half for the next day and supplement your lunch with a salad), choose grilled meat over fried chicken or sodium-filled lunchmeat options, and choose whole wheat bread over a whole wheat wrap, which typically has more calories. Even better: make one of these healthy wrap recipes so you know exactly how many calories you're eating for lunch.
The good news is that you made it to the gym; the bad news? You have no idea what to do. While dropping in on a class or shelling out money for a personal trainer are both effective ways to work out without having to think about it, sometimes you just want to DIY. When that's the case, take this advice from celebrity trainer and Cybex spokesperson Harley Pasternak on how to have a plan of attack and create a no-fail workout.
Step 1: Be Realistic
First, realistically strategize based on what's going on in your life. "The plan has to take into account the rest of your week, your current injury/health status, your goals, and your fitness level," Harley says. These are important to remember in order to stay safe and sane during a busy week or when you're nursing an injury. Guidelines recommend working out at least five days a week, for 60 minutes at a time, in order to lose weight.
Step 2: Map It Out
Once you've determined your frequency, it's time to create your workout. According to Harley, these three elements make the perfect workout:
A cardio or active warmup, such as jumping jacks or jogging.
The main part of the workout, which should include two major muscle groups and one midsection muscle group, "creating a nonstop circuit workout between those movements." Repeat this circuit several times.
A cardio cooldown to end (can be same as warmup).
In Harley's world, it's not a full workout unless it hits all aspects. "I consider a workout a resistance program sandwiched between a cardio warmup and cardio cooldown," he says.
Harley is famous for his 25-minute 5-Factor workouts, all of which follow his formula: 15 minutes of strength training (repeating the circuit four times) between five minutes of cardio to warm up and cool down. Check out his favorite 25-minute circuit workout, which works your butt and legs, arms, and core for total-body conditioning.
Step 3: Create Your Workout
Now try it yourself: pick one move from each category below to make a three-move, 25-minute circuit. Make sure you do five minutes of cardio before and after you repeat this circuit four times.
If you have time for a longer workout, do a 30-minute elliptical workout or 30-minute treadmill workout before your circuit or add more moves to the circuit. End with five more minutes on the elliptical or treadmill. Feel free to play around with different combinations and workout lengths until you hit on what works for you.

Fat-Burning Dinner: Roasted Fish With a Flat-Belly Salad
Eating fish can promote weight loss since lean protein fills you up and sustains your energy, which prevents you from oversnacking later. Plus it's a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, which we all could use. If you've never made fish, here's an incredibly easy recipe that's low in calories (160!) and only requires four ingredients. Here's a video of Bob Harper showing you how easy it is, so it's absolutely foolproof! Enjoy your serving of protein with the flat-belly salad below.
Made with fiber-rich Bibb lettuce, this salad gets an extra boost from hydrating cucumbers that help flush out the digestive system. The enzymes in the pineapple ease digestion, and besides adding a unique sweetness to the dish, blueberries are proven to diminish belly fat. Avocado and almonds not only add bloat-reducing fiber, but since they're both considered MUFAs (monounsaturated fatty acids), they also help keep belly fat at bay. Topped with a homemade lemon chia seed dressing, this salad is amazingly delicious.
If you're trying to tighten up the extra padding around your butt and upper quads, you're not alone. This area is a problematic spot for women, and there's no single cure to change things overnight. According to celebrity trainer Anna Kaiser, increasing the intensity of your cardio and strength-training program is a great start. Anna's other piece of advice? "Put down the fork. No one needs to be eating five bowls of pasta a week and think that they're going to get rid of saddlebags if they're doing 500 leg raises. It's just not going to happen."
So stick to a healthy eating plan, add plenty of cardio to your workout routine, and try out these helpful exercises to help you feel more confident the next time you slip into something slinky.
Dealing with bloat can be a year-round issue, even when you're not donning on a bikini. For those days when you feel sluggish, every little bit helps. Make every bite count by opting for foods that help flatten your stomach and make you feel lighter on your feet. Registered dietitian and Women's Health Contributing Editor Keri Glassman recommends eating whole, unprocessed foods in order to reset your intentions and your diet. "When you're eating whole real foods, the types of foods you should be eating on a regular basis, your body is doing a good job of cleansing itself," she explains. "For example, if you're eating lots of fruits and vegetables and you're getting a lot of fiber, your body is working to cleanse itself - your GI tract, your liver, your kidneys clean your body out."
Fresh produce tops Keri's list of foods that help you cleanse, but she recommends the following as excellent flat-belly foods for their high-fiber content and digestion-relieving properties. Read on for the list, as well as ways to incorporate them into your diet.
While it's often overlooked at the gym, the exercise bike can help you burn tons of calories and tone your legs. When working out on a stationary bike, the trick is to make sure you have the machine set with enough resistance. This way, you won't pedal yourself off the bike, but you'll also be able to sprint when necessary, which can make for a great interval workout. Mixing up the pace challenges the heart and lungs, but interval bike workouts also prevent boredom while pedaling on a road to nowhere.
We love this workout because it is scalable to any fitness level. If you are beginning or advanced, listen to your body and go the speed that works for you in the sprint sections.

Eating a big salad at least once a day is a great way to maintain healthy habits. Don't have time to cut up a salad every single night? Here's a way to make all the salads you need for your workweek at once. Follow these simple salad-making rules, and your meal will taste just as fresh on Friday as it does on Monday!
This is just a general guide with lots of room for creativity. Even though you're making all five salads at one time, you can still make them all a little different with the types of toppings and dressings you use for each one. It's a great way to save time and money and ensure you're getting a dose of daily veggies for health and weight loss.
For some, running is a fun pastime; for others, it's a tiresome necessity. But no matter where you fall on the running spectrum, if you're striving to become better, then here are seven things you can do to become a better runner.
Keep it consistent: If you stop running for a while, then you'll have to build your conditioning back up. So if you want to take your workout to the next level, then make sure you're staying consistent. Sign up for a race and start a training program (like this 5K training schedule) to track your progress; you'll be able to see how much your hard work has paid off.
Learn proper form: It may seem like the simplest way to work out, but running does take skill to make sure you don't leave your body prone to injury. When running, keep your head stacked over your spine, relax the shoulders, and engage your abs. Find out how the rest of your body should be with our running-form checklist.
Dress the part: There's no need to invest in anything fancy, but be sure to spend wisely. The perfect pair of shoes can be the difference between feeling sluggish and being light on your feet, and it can also help prevent injuries. Whether you need a full-support shoe or want in on the minimalist shoe trend, watch our video for tips on how to pick a running shoe.
Fuel right: Running on an empty stomach can keep you from having the right amount of energy, but eating too much can lead to cramping. Look for a small snack containing carbs and protein for sustained energy. Timing is everything, however; if you're rushing out the door and haven't eaten anything, then go for something with 15 grams of easily digestible carbs (like a slice of white bread). Read more about the best foods to eat before a workout (and when to eat them) here.
Drink water: Drinking enough water is another way to ensure you'll have a good run. If you don't drink enough water before your run (as well as during), then chances are you'll have to stop before you'd like to because of fatigue or a cramp. Make sure you drink an ounce of water for every 10 pounds of body weight about an hour or two before your workout, and watch for these signs of dehydration during your run.
Have a plan: It's not all about consistency; you should also keep your body challenged. Running outside instead of just on the treadmill, for example, builds your muscle to help increase speed and endurance, as does incorporating high-intensity intervals. And techniques like negative splits will help improve your overall mile time as well. Plan on doing these types of runs for the majority of your workouts if you're trying to increase your mileage or time, but be sure to incorporate easy runs into your weekly plan as well.
Do more than run: Don't limit yourself to improving your pace just while you're on the road. There are many things you can do when you aren't running that can help you, like stretching after every run, strength training regularly, and getting enough sleep. Find out more about what you can do to be a better runner (without running) here.

Cabbage is low in calories and high in superfood power! Whether you enjoy it raw, cooked, or fermented, you always need a head of this inexpensive cruciferous veg in your crisper - especially if you're trying to lose weight on a budget!
It has detoxifying diuretic properties: If you're retaining water, start slicing up some cabbage, and get ready to chow down. Eating water- and mineral-rich cabbage on a regular basis helps your body release excess fluid and water weight; you'll start seeing all your results from the gym sooner!
It helps you debloat: Due to its rich levels of vitamin C and vitamin A, cabbage boasts major anti-inflammatory properties. If you're eating cabbage for its debloating power, choose red cabbage over the green variety, since it boasts higher levels of these vitamins.
It supports digestion: Cabbage is packed with high levels of fiber, which keeps your bathroom schedule regular. Beyond constipation, cabbage juice has also been able to help those who suffer from regular heartburn, peptic ulcers, and other serious digestive tract issues.

When you set off to live healthier, the whole process can be overwhelming, but all it takes are a few small changes to make a big difference! Start with these 20 simple tips.
Never skip breakfast: Skipping breakfast might seem like it can lead to weight loss, but it's doing just the opposite. Enjoying a high-protein, high-fiber breakfast keeps you energized throughout the morning, while forgetting breakfast actually slows down your metabolism.
Walk to work: Start the day with a dose of exercise, and leave all the stresses of public transportation behind. If your commute includes a drive, something as simple as parking your car in the back of the lot is a healthy change worth making.
Forget the second cup: Coffee in the morning is fine, but that second cup can leave you feeling jittery. Sub your second cup with some green tea. The tea still has caffeine but will keep you feeling balanced; it's also been shown to help boost metabolism.
Eat whole foods: Weight loss is built on more than counting calories! Reach for natural, unprocessed foods to keep the whole body working at its top potential while helping keep off unwanted pounds.
Pack your own lunch: Healthy and fresh fast-food options are more readily available than ever, but when you bring your lunch to work, you know exactly what you're getting. If you're worried about cook time, enjoy one of these dinner recipes that make even more delicious leftover brown-bag lunches.
Be conscious of portions: Members of the clean-plate club should try eating multiple small meals spaced throughout the day or use one of these portion-control products to keep the amount of food you're consuming under control.
Drink more water all day: Gulping plenty of water prevents headaches from warmer temperatures, but it also improves your skin, suppresses appetite, and helps with belly bloat.
Research restaurants ahead of time: Whether you're traveling or have dinner plans with friends, do your research ahead of time and look up the menu online. This way, you can make an informed decision about the healthiest options available that will keep you on track.
Snack on fruits and veggies: If you're not sure how to snack, always pick up some produce; fresh fruits and veggies will fill you up naturally, and the fiber will keep you satisfied for longer.
Eat when you're hungry: Learning how to differentiate between boredom and hunger can be a struggle. When you stop multitasking meals with other activities, you'll start getting aware about when you're full.
Promise to quit crash diets for good: Crash diets just don't work - there are no quick fixes that will sustain a healthier lifestyle. Making a pact to stop the vicious cycle of crash dieting will urge you to make healthier choices you can stick to every day.
Take a stand: Make a point to stand up, stretch, or go for a quick walk during the workday. You'll feel more energized when you head back to your desk and ready to handle the rest of your obligations.
Back off the booze: An occasional drink is fine, but it's harder to commit to healthy plans when you're constantly hanging at a bar with friends - or dealing with a hangover the next day.
Laugh more: Laughing helps keep stress levels low and positive feelings high. You might be surprised to learn that studies have shown that adults who have a sense of humor outlive those who don't.
Try a new workout: There's no one-size-fits-all rule when it comes to workouts, so if there's anything that has piqued your interest, try it! You'll be more likely to stick to a fitness plan if you're doing something you enjoy.
Keep a journal: Keeping a food journal has been proven to make you aware of all your choices and more likely to lose weight. In a similar vein, writing details of all of your workouts keeps you on track and connected to your fitness goals.
Find a partner in crime: It's possible to do it all on your own, but having a friend or partner who's doing their best to lead a similar lifestyle makes everything easier. You'll have someone to bounce ideas off of and head to the gym with, even when you're not in the mood.
Turn off the tube: Spending countless hours in front of the TV every day keeps you away from more productive activities. For your must-watch TV shows, combine the time with exercise.
Shut down electronics earlier: Make sure you turn off all your electronics at least 20 minutes before bedtime. Keeping electronics on while you sleep can disrupt your circadian and melatonin rhythms and make your body think it's still daytime.
Get to bed on time: Not getting enough sleep can lead to a whole slew of consequences from higher blood pressure to memory loss. Be sure to get at least seven hours of sleep every night to keep you alert and energized to take on the day.
I recently boarded a plane where I had a 60-second encounter I can't get out of my mind. After a few days in Southern California, I wasn't quite ready to transition back to my standard boots, scarf, and jeans that cool San Francisco temperatures require year round. I had a killer tan, wore a new short t-shirt dress, and rocked my favorite pair of camel wedges. I have to tell you: I was feeling pretty good.
As I stood in line on a silent jet bridge, the beautiful older woman with a long gray ponytail right behind me gave me a compliment I wasn't anticipating. "I have to ask: how do you work out your legs? They are gorgeous. So lean and strong." At first, I didn't flinch and felt the rush of her praise. I told her about the combination of yoga and SoulCycle I swear by and thanked her for the kind words. But 30 seconds later something strange happened. I felt a need to follow up with the following words: "You know, I think it's really just the combination of the dress and shoes. Wearing wedges helps." Her face dropped as she replied, "You don't have to do that."
Immediately, I regretted what I had said. Why didn't I just take this compliment? As I tried to figure out what had happened, this skit from Inside Amy Schumer played in my mind.
I really work hard to stay in shape, and I love my strong legs. There was no need to follow up an authentic compliment with any sort of half-hearted disclaimer, so what was so hard about receiving these words? This woman was being genuine, but some part of me felt I had to shrink after this encounter. A bunch of other people had heard our interaction, and I was consumed by the fear that I sounded self-centered.
There's a quote from Marianne Williamson I've heard at many lectures and yoga classes over the years that perfectly sums up my thoughts on what happened: "We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? . . . Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. . . . And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." These are words I do my best to live by every day, but it can be especially trying when it comes to my appearance. I have curves, and I'm muscular. My thighs touch, and I'm shaped like a "real" woman. It's been a long time coming, but I'm getting more comfortable with myself every day. Now is a more important time than ever for me to really hear these compliments. These were not empty words.
Playing small and being timid about my beauty or strength are not doing anyone any favors - especially me. Next time, I'll just take the compliment, respond with kindness and a smile, and use my long, lean, and powerful legs to walk to my seat with a little extra swagger.
